Renaissance Men

I. I chose to watch the video the Drawings of Michaelangelo and Leonardo di Vinci The Mind of the Renaissance because they both were heavy hitters during the Renaissance and have been two of very few artists that intrigue me the most. Not only were these men versatile in their work but they were also versatile in their personal lives. Michaelangelo being a painter, poet, architect and Leonardo being a brilliant inventor, sculptor, architect, musician, engineer and scientist, these men are the true definitions of what a Renaissance man is.

II. In the video on Michaelangelo there was alot of comparison between his artworks and elaborations on the techniques he used to create his works. The video on Leonardo was great in the sense that he is depicted as the epitome of a Renaissance Man and goes into depth on his life from his birth in Tuscany to his last years alive and spent in Cloux.

III. The videos relate to the text more when dealing with Michaelangelo than Leonardo because the drawings of Michaelangelo and techniques were discussed in the text, however, the depth of Leonardo's life wasn't as detailed in the text as it was in the video.

IV. I took alot of interest in these two particular films as opposed to other films I've seen for this class because I had already been incredibly interested in the artists while reading the book. The videos provided greater insight of the lives of the artist than the readings did. By far my favorite videos.
