Frida Kahlo Sepf Portrait with Medallion Painting 1948
Ramos Self Portrait 2012 Pencil
My selection was based off of my interest for the artists as well as the portraits itself especially that of Salvador Dali. I selected pencil for my media because its my favorite media to use in general. Its simple and can be manipulated to be messy or clean and i like that about it. Some challenges I faced were proportion and evenness. I dealt with them by just going with the flow. This piece represents me because it is me! I used emphasis on my eyes and lips because those are my strongest facial features and therefore chose to leave my nose out to allow for the emphasis to occur. I used color or lack there of due to personal preference. I used lines to define my hair and proportion in my eyes and lips. My self portrait is asymmetrical. I did enjoy working on this project very much, it was interesting to see what I am capable of. I thought it would come out WAY worse than it did. I love my final artwork. Everything Ive done thus far has been a complex because i intended it to be that way. This piece, my final piece, however, is complete opposite. Just simple.
